So the quality of the leads that you’ve been getting hasn’t been the best. Maybe it’s the platforms you’ve been choosing, maybe it’s, I don’t know, where you’ve been looking.

So in this video, I wanna share with you what I find to generate the best quality leads, and how to ultimately increase the quality of those leads over time. You can stop worrying about the kinds of leads that are coming in and more focused on how to sell those jobs. So let’s dive right in.

What is up beautiful people, my name is Mats Moy. For those of you guys who are returning, thank you for coming back. This week we got something really good for you guys.

For those of you guys who are new. And for those of you guys who don’t know me, again, my name is Mats Moy. I’m the owner of Moy Consulting, a company I created simply to help roofing companies out there get online and get established, and start producing leads.


Optimizing the quality of your leads

Now, in this week’s video, I wanna talk about quality, quality, quality. I get it all the time, the quality of the leads, they’re not so good. And so I wanna share with you different things that I’ve been doing to help increase the quality of the leads that my clients have been getting over time.

Now it’s not an easy task, especially at the beginning. But over time, you can start to really optimize and hone in on the kinds of leads that you wanna get.

Ideally, you wanna put yourself in a position where you’re getting an abundance of roofing leads, to a point where you can start to say, “we don’t do this, or we don’t do that.” Right? So start slow, start small, work your way up to that point, but work towards something.

So before we get started here, I’m gonna ask those of you guys who are brand new to the channel to go ahead and smash that subscribe button. Hit the notification bell, so that you get notified each and every single time I release a new video, just like this one, every single Wednesday.

Inbound vs outbound leads

All right, so generally speaking, we got two different types of things here. We got your inbound and outbound. Inbound, the leads are coming to you. People have a problem, they have a roofing problem, and they’re coming to you, the expert to solve that problem. Those are generally high-quality leads. People who picked up the phone, found you online, and want you to come out and give them an estimate.

Versus the outbound leads, where the people, you know, they don’t know who you are, why you’re here, you’re knocking on their door. And it’s generally not the best quality leads that you’ll find from that.

Now, with that being said, if you want high-quality leads, then find people who are looking for your service online to get in front of, right? These guys are online every single day, needing someone like yourself to come out and give them an estimate. So that’s where you want to be.

Get as many reviews as possible

Next up, a very simple step for you to generate more high-quality leads is to build credibility and trust online. And one way you can do that is simply by getting as many reviews as possible, preferably to your Google My Business listing.

I’ve said this time and time again. Getting those reviews has so many compounding effects to help you position yourself as an expert within the industry, within the area, and as the go-to contractor, right?

Build credibility and trust online

I’ve worked with tons of roofing companies and that’s the best advice that I can give them. It’s simply to position yourself to a point where, “Hey, people are looking online.” It’s a clear difference between yourself and the competitors to see who the homeowner should call. And that’s who you wanna be.

Do a quick Google search for your company, and see what shows up. Give yourself a reason to contact you. And that’s what you wanna do online to ultimately increase the quality of the leads.

Otherwise, it becomes, “I’m just looking for the cheapest guy.” Right? “I’m just looking for the cheapest guy.” You got like you know, not much credibility online, you’re a Chuck in the truck type roofer, right? I don’t really care, I just want the cheap stuff.

Whereas you wanna attract high-quality leads, people who actually have money and wanna contact you to come out and just solve their problem no matter the cost. Those are the people you wanna get in front of and have them be a roofer to say, “Hey, you know, you have the reviews online and you’re someone who seems to be highly respected in the community.” And so that’s the position you wanna put yourself in.

Get your name out there

Two more benefits to getting those reviews is really getting your name out there, right? Again, Google is gonna tend to push your company out there in front of people who are looking for your services, just because people seemingly like you, that’s another reason for you to get reviews.

Establish a selling point

And lastly, it’s gonna be used as a selling point. I see it all the time where roofers say, “Hey, look at our reviews online, we have this many reviews.” And then you look at the competitors, and they have like a lot fewer reviews than you do. So one more thing is that it can also be used as a really good selling point, right?

The fact that you have all of these reviews will increase the quality of your leads. Well, people will find you. The people who have money are more likely to hire a company, will find you online now, because you have those reviews, right?

Your sales reps can go out to jobs, or sales meetings or at appointments estimates, and use that to say, “Hey, look at us, right? Look at how many reviews we have, look at how many customers are happy or satisfied with our work, right?” Versus the competitor who has, let’s say 10 reviews and you have 150. It’s a clear difference between the two.

So leverage those reviews to your advantage, to generate more high-quality leads.

Enter the conversation as it’s happening

Next, we have to enter the conversation as it’s happening. I’m reading this amazing book, “80/20 Sales and Marketing by Perry Marshall”. And he really breaks it down.

Instead of sending out, let’s say 1,000 mailers, right? And this is a very common thing to do, send out mailers to everyone and see whoever bites. Generally, you’re sending it out to people who are gonna take those flyers, dump them in the garbage. Would you not rather want to get in front of people who are having the conversation of, “Hey, I need a new roof” rather than just everyone and hoping somebody bites.

That’s kind of how you have to think about it. And he really breaks it down in this book. He shows you that some platforms are much better than others when it comes to generating high-quality leads. You are now looking to get in front of 100% percent of people who are actually in the market for roofing services, rather than just everyone and hoping somebody bites.

Facebook vs Google

So with that being said, what I found to be the best platform to produce high-quality leads is Google. Because people generally go to Google to find a specific service, or a specific product or whatever it is. They go to find whatever they’re looking for online.

If you think about it from a Facebook standpoint, that’s not generally where people go to find a specific service. And again, it’s not to say that Facebook doesn’t work. It’s just not the platform where someone would actively go out and look for a specific roofing company to help them out with their roof.

Do people go to Facebook to ask for recommendations and referrals? Yes. Do people go to Facebook to see what their friends and family are up to? Yes. Now the likelihood of you entering a conversation of I need a new roof as it’s happening with someone on Facebook is less likely than someone actively seeking a roofer online on a platform such as Google, because that’s really the main platform.

Google is king

Google is king guys, Google is king. And so whenever a hailstorm happens, for example, you can target a specific area on Facebook. That would work pretty well. Because it’s more likely that a specific area has been damaged by, you know, said storm. And the people in that area actually need a specific service, right?

But if you’re just targeting Facebook, just a specific area through Facebook, just to target an area, you’re hoping to get in front of someone who needs a roof. So it’s somewhat similar to sending out the mailers, right?

I would much rather you get in front of someone who seeks you out, right?  Sought out roofing services on Google, because that’s where you’ll be, than trying to get in front of a customer who may or may not need your service.

Rinse and repeat

So once you’ve tapped into that market, you’re doing extremely well, you’re getting high-quality leads, all you need to do going forward is rinse and repeat, right? Do this same process over and over and over, target different areas, right? Do the same thing that you did for area A in area B, right?

If you’re looking to expand and scale and go out to different places, put more money into whatever’s working. It’s as simple as that, right? You wanna generate higher quality leads, do just that. Do just that.
