So you’re now considering getting online seriously and you’re ready to start taking action. There are certain things that you need to do, step by step. And that’s exactly what we’re gonna be breaking down in this video. So let’s dive right in.

If you are brand new to the channel, let me introduce myself. My name is Mats Moy, and I’m the owner of Moy Consulting, a company I created six years ago to help roofing companies just like yours, get online and start producing leads.
Now, this year alone, I’ve helped over 100 roofing companies go from complete beginner to helping them set up systems in-house and producing their own quality roofing leads. And so, I know a thing or two about getting things set up and making sure that they’re actually producing for the company.
What actions do you actually need to take, to make something like this happen? Let’s break it down.
Learn the basics
Now, before you even think about going to this blind, I encourage you to learn even just a little bit. Whether you’re looking at tackling this yourself or hiring a marketing company to help you with your online, you need at least a basic level of understanding.
Get out there, get online, the internet is a pool of information to give you the knowledge that you need the bare minimum that you need to start understanding, what it means to you know, start producing leads, like the processes. You need to know some of these things, right? So that you can have that basic understanding, otherwise, a company can call you out of the blue, and say, hey, we can get you on the first page of Google.
Now, I know that getting you on the first page of Google doesn’t mean that you’re getting phone calls, you’re getting leads. But you may not know that, right? And so, this is why I make videos like this, to better educate you, on what it means to actually generate leads online.

So, stop hiring people without knowing anything. It helps, it absolutely will help you understand the basics on SEO, paid ads, PPC. Just get the basic understanding as to how we go from using these different things to produce leads for your company. Know the bare minimum.
Even the homeowners have a basic understanding as to what goes into putting a roof together, right? They know what the end result should look like, what the roof itself is supposed to be doing. They have a very broad understanding as to what, or how a roof is put together. So let’s break this down into five steps.
1. Set timelines
So set expected timelines and major dates. This is going to help you break this down goal-wise, right?
If you are looking to get online and start producing leads, there are specific items that you need to set expected timelines and major dates. So, if you are looking to get your roofing company online, then you need to take a series of actions to get there.
Alright, so starting with let’s say, purchasing your domain and hosting, right? That’s the equivalent of you going to your supplier and saying, hey, I need X amount of shingles right?
Before you go out and do anything, you’re gonna have to get them. So this is assuming you’ve sold the job. You’re ready to get started. Before you actually get to the job site and start roofing, you’re gonna need some materials, right? And so, you go to the supplier and say, hey, I need this much of that.
2. Get a domain name and hosting
Now before you get online and start producing leads, it’s a good idea for you to get a domain name and a hosting package.
Once you have the materials to go and start roofing, you’re gonna want to tear off the existing roof, right? You’re gonna get on there, start removing all the shingles. This would be the equivalent of you setting up tracking.
Now, many people skip this step, right? And I kinda like this analogy because, rather than removing the shingles, some people decide to just go right over the top.
Now, sure, it’s a cheaper alternative, it’s faster. And it’s the same thing with your digital marketing, you don’t have to set up the analytics, right?
But it’s a very good idea, especially if you’re looking to start from scratch. Rather than just skipping the step altogether and causing damage later on, when you do decide that you want something of quality, something that’s going to produce long term, and something that you can look back on, and make any necessary adjustments. Think about that for a second.
3. Choose the right platform
Next, you’re gonna wanna choose the right platform, for you to produce leads out of.
And if you haven’t already, be sure to check out this video here. That’s going to explain why I prefer Google, over Facebook, all right? So for those of you guys who are trying to produce leads out of Facebook, I encourage you to do your research. Really try to figure out why you wanna go after Facebook over Google. Again, I’ve been doing this for quite some time, and I do prefer Google over Facebook. Check out this video as to why.
So again, choose the right platform for you to produce leads out of, right? You don’t wanna spread yourself thin, because there are so many avenues for you to produce leads online. And really, you wanna pick one. Focus your efforts there, start producing leads, and then move on to the next platform.
4. Build out the campaign
Once you’ve chosen the platform, you then wanna build out the campaign that you’re looking to produce leads out of, right?
So if you’re looking to go, let’s say a pay-per-click route, maybe Google Ads is gonna be your platform of choice. You’re gonna have to set up a campaign, choose the right keywords, set up landing pages, conversion tracking. There are specific steps that need to be done, prior to you launching a campaign, even with your search engine optimization, right?
Your SEO, you’re gonna have to tweak your website, make sure that it’s good to go for the search engines. You can’t just launch and just go, right? You need some form of preparation planning before you dive into generating roofing leads.
Then once you’ve set up the campaign, you’re ready to go, you’re ready to launch. You set it and you forget it, you don’t worry about it. It produces leads for you on autopilot, you never have to worry about it whatsoever. You’re going about your day, phone calls are gonna keep rolling in, and you’re good to go.
Sorry, that is not what happens, right? You need some level of maintenance, right? Just like the roof is on the roof, homeowners, business owners tend to set it and forget it. Whereas you and I both know, that it needs a level of maintenance.
If there’s no maintenance whatsoever, then it could fall apart very easily. You could significantly reduce the life expectancy of the roof itself and so you need some maintenance. And it’s the same thing that goes with your marketing campaigns.
You need a competent person looking after this, otherwise, it falls apart. So, on a day to day, whichever platform you use, there is a series of steps that you should be taking, whether it be every day or every week, right? It needs to be looked after, otherwise, it falls apart and it stops producing leads.
Understand, that all of these platforms change all the time. And so it’s not a set it and forget it, right? And this is the stuff that you’re paying your marketing agency for on a month to month, to look after these things so that these things don’t break.
So, best believe that it’s not something that you can set and forget.
Those are the five goals that you need to set and achieve one after another before you get online, and start producing leads.
